Canoe Trip at FGCU Marine Lab - During the course of the class, we will embark on off-campus field experiences. Provide a reflection of your experience for each field trip. This entry is a personal reflection that should capture how you felt, what you enjoyed, what you may not have enjoyed, etc. What were your impressions of this mangrove estuary? What value does this habitat have? Why is it important to protect coastal areas? Reflect on your experiences.
During this trip, I learned how to get in a canoe. When seating three people in a canoe, the middle person must always step in first, ever so careful not to tip the boat. Only, and ONLY when the middle person is in, then the others may enter.
I saw some mangroves. We learned the differences between them. There are red black and brown ones. Also there are dead oysters in the water. This is very valuable, one of which no man can put a price on. You cant just go buy a Mangrove preserve. So it is important to protect these areas.
